Palau is a Pacific Island common-law republic in Compact of Free Association with the United States (Compact 1994). Family-law framework operates under the Palau National Code Title 21 (Domestic Relations) drawing on US-derivative common-law substantive heritage via Compact framework and prior US Trust Territory administration.
